While in Siem Reap, Cambodia we stayed at The Golden Temple Retreat.

We were warmly greeted by a smiling member of the hotel staff at the airport. He collected our luggage, summoned the driver and surprised us with two fresh coconut 🌴 πŸ₯₯ waters to drink! The driver pulled up, we hopped in and settled into a 25 minute ride to the hotel.

We had an early evening flight into Siem Reap, so the sun had already set and it was dark when we arrived. As we got closer to the hotel, we began to notice how alive the city is at night! We drove by Pub street and the night market, there were lots of people out and it was very bright, light up almost like a fair! :)

We arrived at the hotel and greeted by three staff members, welcoming us with a refreshing beverage and some light snacks while they checked us in.

We were escorted to our pool facing room on the first floor of the property, where our bags had already been dropped off.

The room was great! The wall the faced the pool was all windows and had curtains you could open and close depending the level if privacy you wanted. There were lots of fresh towels, robes, slippers & toiletry products to make you feel at home.

The room’s bathroom was great, it had a huge vanity mirror, waterfall shower, gorgeous bathtub and private toilet (which is exactly what you want when traveling to exotic places ;)). There was also good wifi, a curved Samsung tv & mini fridge with multiple drinks for purchase.

Each morning we ate breakfast at the restaurant, as it was included in the stay. It was a very nice spread, offering cereal, baked goods, fresh fruit πŸ‰ 🍍🍊🍎 🍌 & juices, Cambodian dishes and an omelet station; in additional to your standard coffee & tea, espresso was also included which was a plus for us!

The pool was beautiful, however a little cold as coming from the US we are use to heated pools. It had multiple chairs built into the water and some above ground loungers, it also had a swim up bar at the end.

During our stay the hotel arranged a sightseeing tour for us. Where we went to see four of the city’s major landmarks; including Ta Prohm, Preah Khan, Banteay Srei and lastly Angkor Wat. Honestly, we thought Angkor Wat might be a little bit talked up, nope, it was absolutely stunning!

We had a lot of fun walking around the small city, trying all the cold pressed juices πŸ₯€, exploring the markets and riding the tuk-tuks; our favorite was the Batmobile! We also really liked the Spoons and Fifty 5 restaurants.

The check out process was seamless. This is really important as it leaves a lasting impression.

A big thank you to The Golden Temple! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our favorite part of Cambodia were the people! They are the kindest and most polite people we have ever met. πŸ€—πŸ™β€οΈ
