Mendenhall Glacier Trek
Hiking the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau Alaska. I had just hiked on Athabasca Glacier in Jasper, Alberta. And after that one Glacier expedition apparently I thought I was pretty experienced.
On this trek, it was just myself and a mountaineer and knew what kind of shots I wanted to get. He said ok but there might be some technical parts. I didn’t care, I wasn't scared. Until I saw what he meant and suddenly I realized I wasn't experienced even the slightest bit.
He had me ice climbing with an ice axe and crampons without ropes. I remember at certain sections I was scared to death.
This is a me at the edge of a massive crevasse after hiking and climbing all day. I was like a kid in a candy store the moment I saw this. That nature could be this amazing, that it demands your respect, and so humbled at how inexperienced I really was.
